Discovery Journey
My first encounter with the Frisbee disc took place in about 2004 or 2005, when my dormitory roommate brought a disc from the USA. However, it was not until 2010 when the real adventure has started. I met players of 'WD40' – the first ultimate team in Poland. Since that time ultimate has occupied more and more of my free time, eventually turning from just a hobby into a job. During that five years our team has powerfully evolved and the name has changed too to AZS AWF FLOW Wrocław. We have changed from complete rookies to the Polish Championships medallists of gold and the fourth team in the European Championships in the last season :))) The FLOW operates vigorously and boldly. It was thanks to us that Wrocław has became a distinguishable place on the European and world map of ultimate. We organise and plan evens such as the European Youth Ultimate Championships 2011 (EYUC), European Ultimate Club Finals 2015 (EUCF), World Junior Ultimate Championships 2016 (WJUC) and many other events.
Eureka Moment
In the spring of 2010 I had no idea that innocent sports-social meetings with friends would change into the way of living for me. But this is Ultimate!: unusual people, fair play – the foundation of the game. All of it makes you want more and more the moment you try it.
Try it
There is really not much you need to start playing ultimate. You need a disc, the best one should be 175g heavy (it is easy to order it online), and of course somebody you could throw it to. Any place is good enough – park, pitch, square in the town centre. Once you get more people and you want to play a match, you may need football boots and 8 cones to mark the pitch (empty water bottles will do too). A good idea is to check if there is a team in you town you could join to train. One can do it online at: ultimatecentral.com
